JAKARTA - There is no country in this world that can escape from cyber-attacks, as well as Indonesia. Therefore, it is necessary to strengthen and secure information technology (IT) on critical infrastructure networks.

Critical infrastructure has an important value because if it is attacked and paralysed it can harm society. Critical infrastructure such as energy (electricity), aviation fuel, health, finance/banking, telecommunications, defence, e-governance and others.

Deputy of Information Technology for Energy and Materials Agency for Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT) Hammam Riza said malware attacks will continue to increase in line with the flow of digitalization of various sectors of public services. Attacks are increasingly difficult to anticipate because the Advanced Persistent Threat (APT) is zero-day with high destructive power and cross-country.

"Unfortunately we do not have a national protection plan, it should be accelerated to build a critical infrastructure protection plan," said Hammam Riza as reported from beritasatu.com (3/7/2017).

According to Hammam Riza critical infrastructure security is very important because it controls the livelihood of society and the government continuity. Therefore, the National Technology Congress which will be held by BPPT on 17 July will conduct an in-depth review of the critical security infrastructure from various sectors.
