PUPR Ministry Asks for Seriously Concerning Construction Safety

JAKARTA - Minister of Public Works and Housing (PUPR) Basuki Hadimuljono launched the National Movement for Construction Safety (GNKK) at the Auditorium of the PUPR Ministry, Jakarta, Monday (29/1/2018). This is cannot be separated from the momentum of the national K3 month which falls in January and February.

Through GNKK, PUPR Ministry would like to invite all elements of construction service society in Indonesia to be able to give serious attention to the construction safety.

Minister Basuki stressed the importance of construction safety in establishing and maintaining credibility either as an engineer, implementer or service provider. Good credibility will encourage local contractors to be more confident in working on infrastructure projects, as well as increasing the trust of service users.

"If the foreigners can, we should also be like that. Do not be inferior, We also should not be just rhetoric like that. Now all we do is work with the quality as per the required standards," said PUPR Minister Basuki Hadimuljono in his speech, as reported from pu.go.id (30/1/2018).

Minister Basuki on this occasion also inaugurated the Construction Safety Committee (KKK) established based on Ministerial Decree No. PUPR.66/KPTS/M/2018 which was signed on January 24, 2018. This committee of experts is tasked with monitoring and evaluating the implementation of high potential hazard construction, construction accident investigation, and providing recommendations to the PUPR Minister.

"This committee is an independent body specialized in evaluating construction accidents just like the National Transportation Safety Committee (KNKT) who conduct an investigation during a transportation accident," said Basuki Hadimuljono.
