Dry Port, New Infrastructure from Krakatau Bandar Samudera
CILEGON - The industrial area of PT Krakatau Industrial Estate Cilegon (KIEC) has a new infrastructure that has officially operated the dry port under the control of PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera. The Dry Port is standing on a one-hectare land in the area of PT KIEC.
Dry Port is a mainland container terminal that has direct access to highways and rail connections with seaports and has facilities to support domestic, export and import activities. Dry Port development is the answer to the ever-increasing container traffic which is needed by the industry in Cilegon.
The dry port development is expected to continue to support the development of cooperation between PT KBS and PT Kereta Api Indonesia (PT KAI). Previously, KBS and PT KAI cooperated to develop containers depot to facilitate the logistics distribution chain, beginning with the transportation of various products of PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk to East Java.
"This is part of our support to the government that prioritises logistics. Since the Dutch era, the delivery of goods is done through the train, so we need to continue because it is more efficient," said President Director of PT Krakatau Bandar Samudera, Tonno Sapoetro, in the press release (14/6/2017).
Prime Cargo Delivery by PT. Krakatau Bandar Samudera is a plastic ore cargo belonging to PT. Chandra Asri Chemical. Tbk of 5 (five) containers with the aim to Surabaya which will be shipped along with 14 (fourteen) coil wire owned by PT Krakatau Steel (Persero) Tbk and 1 containerboard gypsum owned by PT. Jaya Boral which addressed to Gresik.
PT. KBS provides dry port services on a land area of 5,903 square meters which is expected to win 1,350 cars per year in the first year and will increase to 1,800 carriages per year in subsequent years. Dry Port facility development provides solutions for service users as it will become an integrated project from port facility to destination warehouse in East Java area and other areas.
