PGN Supports Indonesian Government to Develop Gas Infrastructure

SURABAYA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) assigned PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) to undertake the development and operation of 24,000 SR gas network in Surabaya, based on ESDM Ministerial Decree No.4823.K/12/MEM/2015. In addition to Surabaya, a gas network for the community which built by the Government through assignment to PGN and ready to be used also exist in some other areas in Indonesia, such as Batam and Tarakan. In total PGN has built 49,000 House Connection (SR) gas network built in 2016.

President Director of PT Perusahaan Gas Negara (Persero) Tbk (PGN) Jobi Triananda Hasjim explained that this year PGN has received an assignment from the Government to build a natural gas network for households of 26,000 SR based on the Decree of the Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources No.8086 K/12/MEM/2016.

"PGN is ready to carry out the assignment from the Government in the development of natural gas infrastructure, one of which is a household gas network," said Jobi Triananda as reported from the press release of the ESDM Ministry (9/5/2017).

Jobi added that in addition to the assignment from the government, PGN is also committed to continue expanding the gas infrastructure network and increase the utilisation of natural gas production to various regions, without burdening the state budget.

"Currently, PGN has distributed natural gas in 10 cities in 12 provinces through infrastructure consisting of 7,278 km, 2 units of FSRU and 10 CNG/SPBG stations," Jobi closed.

The development of gas network with APBN funds has been done by the Government since 2009 and until 2016, has been built 185,991 SR in 14 provinces in 26 districts/cities. Gas network development is part of the National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) 2015-2019 since it can meet clean, cheap, environmentally friendly and efficient energy needs.
