Support for Cable Communication System Development of Australia - Indonesia – Singapura
JAKARTA - PT XL Axiata Tbk (XL Axiata) is fully involved in the construction of the Australia-Indonesia-Singapore Cable Communication System (SKKL) which linking Australia with Singapore through Indonesian sea. With Anyer in Banten as a landing point, SKKL will provide an alternative internet access from Indonesia to the global network through Australia.
Until now the 4,600 km network construction process is still running and it is ready to operate in the third quarter of 2018. President Director & CEO of XL Axiata, Dian Siswarini, and Chairman of Vocus Group, Vaughan Bowen, CEO of Alcatel Submarine Networks, M. Phillippe Piron, and Minister of Communications & Informatics, Rudiantara jointly inaugurated the construction of this network infrastructure project (11/12).
President Director & CEO of XL Axiata, Dian Siswarini in an official press release said, "The existence of Australia-Indonesia-Singapore SKKL is a highly strategic infrastructure for the development of Information and Communication Technology (ICT) industry in Indonesia because it provides large capacity connectivity to Singapore and especially to Australia which could then become an alternative route to the global network. "
Dian also explained that the capacity to reach 30Tb for Jakarta and Singapore and 20Tb between Jakarta - Perth means SKKL is able to provide up to 6x capacity of total international network capacity from Indonesia currently available.
Vocus Group Chairman Vaughan Bowen said, "The existence of this network is very important to support the development of Information and Communication Technology infrastructure in Indonesia, and for the first time, this is a hub in the middle of the traffic flow between Asia and North America and not be an end of fiber optic network in the region."
In the project undertaken by Alcatel Submarine Network (ASN), XL Axiata participates as landing partner, administrator and representative of SKKL Australia-Indonesia-Singapore in Indonesia. The provision of SKKL Australia-Indonesia-Singapore is also XL Axiata step in fulfilling the commitment to provide infrastructure for global Internet access better so it can support the government's vision in encouraging the use of digital technology by all levels of society.
