Strategic Alliance between TelkomGroup and Cellum Global Hungary

JAKARTA - PT Telkom Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (Telkom) through its subsidiary PT Metranet (Metranet) started a strategic alliance with Cellum Global Zrt. (Cellum), a provider of mobile payment solutions and electronic trading services from Hungary.
The strategic alliance is marked by the signing of a conditional agreement by Metranet CEO Widi Nugroho with CEO Cellum Jànos Kóka and the existing shareholders of Cellum (CGI, Cellum BV and OTP KTA) witnessed by SVP Media & Digital Business Telkom Joddy Hernady in Budapest, Tuesday (30/1).
Under the alliance agreement, Metranet and Cellum agreed to work on mobile payment platform in Indonesia and Metranet also agreed to take a minority stake in Cellum if the required terms are met.
Metranet CEO Widi Nugroho revealed, this strategic alliance is a metranet effort to participate in strengthening TelkomGroup's digital business.
"We hope that the capability in digital finance services, mobile payment, and commerce services will be more robust, to serve both consumer and business-to-business (B2B) segments, in line with Metranet's vision of becoming the most reliable monetizing partner in the online industry," said Widi Nugroho as reported from pressrelease.id (1/2/2018).
On a separate occasion, Telkom's Director of Digital & Strategic Portfolio David Bangun stressed that this is a strategic step in strengthening TelkomGroup's digital business portfolio.
"With this, it's expected that the service platform of TelkomGroup Digital Financial Services become more reliable and integrated, starting from online bill, mobile e-money, to another mobile platform sub-system. The complete finance business ecosystem and digital financial services of TelkomGroup are expected to further strengthen our position as Digital Telecommunication Company," said David Bangun.
