Important Infrastructure Development Supports the Purposes of SDGs

JAKARTA - Chairman of the Board of Commissioners OJK (Financial Services Authority) Wimboh Santoso said infrastructure development is very important in supporting Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) program in providing facilities and infrastructure to improve the people welfare.
This was conveyed when he was a panel discussion speaker in the Private Finance for Sustainable Development forum organized by the Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) for the Principles and Policies session in Paris on Monday (29/1).
Wimboh explained there are four aspects that need to be considered in promoting the goal of sustainable development in Indonesia namely, innovation, inclusive, integration and infrastructure.
"Sustainable development financing is now also directed through the capital market with the issuance of regulations that encourage the issuance of greenbonds in Indonesia," said Wimboh Santoso in OJK press release (30/1/18).
To build the infrastructure, Wimboh continued, the development of blended finance becomes important as an alternative to infrastructure financing in Indonesia, especially by encouraging capital market financing.
Meanwhile, related to the provision of financing for Micro Small Medium Enterprises (UMKM), Wimboh also explained that the Indonesian Government is very concerned about the empowerment of UMKM by providing interest subsidy for MSME credit.
