Government Innovation and Private Participation to Develop Infrastructure

JAKARTA - Finance Minister of the Republic of Indonesia Sri Mulyani Indrawati attended the Indonesia PPP Day 2016 at the Westin Hotel in Jakarta on Thursday (24/11). The event on the theme "Innovative Fiscal Support for Better Public Services", aims to introduce the public facilities and government support to implement a cooperation scheme with the government Enterprises (KPBU) or Public Private Partnership (PPP).

"How can we mobilize and invite private participation in infrastructure development," said Sri Mulyani in his speech, as reported from today (25/11/2016).

There are two important things that are emphasized in this event, namely innovation and good public services. "First, the fiscal associated with how we in the Ministry of Finance has the financial responsibility for managing state finances could have an attitude and the ability to continue to innovate, to support cooperation between the government and enterprises," explained the finance minister.

Through Indonesia PPP Day 2016, the Ministry of Finance showed readiness and ability to support the KPBU scheme with various innovations, "the Ministry of Finance needs to invest attention and continues to dare to make innovations, so that the financial position of the country is able to support, facilitate, promote, and even create interest from the private sector to finance infrastructure development," she explained.

For information, innovations that have been carried out by the Ministry of Finance to support KPBU scheme is Project Development Facility (PDF), support Viability Gap Fund (VGF), and Infrastructure Guarantee. In addition, the latest innovation in KPBU scheme is a form of return on investment through payments or Availability Payment service availability.
