Jonan Request to PLN for More Affordable Customer Tariffs

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources (ESDM) Ignasius Jonan ask to PT PLN (Persero) to impose lower tariffs for customers. Affordable electricity tariffs would be applicable if the price of the basic cost of electricity supply (BPP) more efficient.

Minister Jonan also believes it would be very disturbing the sense of justice if there are people who are not able to buy electricity, but the house passed by the electrical infrastructure.

"Do not let happen, which already passed the house electricity infrastructure but can not afford it. If that happens, it is a gap in the welfare or the so-called disparity and it would be very dangerous, "said Jonan reported from (04/12/2017).

Jonan added, there are still more than 10,000 villages that still have electricity sober and 2,500 villages which did not have electricity and it is incumbent upon the government to provide electricity supply.

"Let us imagine that we are born in a region that is no electricity and we suppose our age is around 18 or 19 years, one day there was a power pole and power lines that pass through our house, and these young children have asked their parents, 'Why we still do not use electricity?' If the answer of the parents is that they can not afford to buy electricity, it is a social problem that very, very large. For the government it is very important," said Jonan.

Jonan continued that in order to overcome this, one of the suggested tips to lower the cost price of goods provision (BPP) of electricity is building a power plant based on energy sources in the region.

"I tend to islands that have coal, electricity producing companies should build a mine mouth power plant (mine mouth). Because the theory is much cheaper to send electricity if compare with coal or gas. Likewise with gas, when the islands have many natural gases I tend to create wellhead. If there is network or transmission so it will be built. because it is cheaper ", stated Jonan.
