Groundbreaking of New Airport in Yogyakarta Will Be Held End of January

New airport infrastructure needs for the Yogyakarta province makes the Government seriously prepare the development of New Yogyakarta International Airport airport in Kulon Progo, Yogyakarta Special Region. The groundbreaking new airport will be held the end of January and will be attended by the President of the Republic of Indonesia, Joko Widodo.

This information was presented by the Ministry of Transportation (MENHUB) Budi Karya Sumadi when visiting Yogyakarta to meet with the Governor of Yogyakarta, Sri Sultan HB X together with the State Secretary Minister, Pratikno and Director of Angkasa Pura I Danang S. Baskoro.

"From a technical point of PT Angkasa Pura I (Persero) have done good preparations of land acquisition and other technical preparations," said Budi Karya Sumadi, as reported from, today (01/23/2017)

Furthermore, Menhub Budi Karya Sumadi said that President Joko Widodo is planned to attend the groundbreaking ceremony which will be held at the end of January.

"We are discussing with Sultan about the plan of the President to come and attend (the groundbreaking) at the end of this month, about the time we would propose to the President through the State Secretary Minister," he explained.

On the same occasion the Menhub Budi Karya Sumadi appreciate a local government fully supports for the plan to build New Yogyakarta International Airport by saying, "The Ministry of Transportation is very appreciated firmness, support from Sultan for this project and this support can be an example other provinces, without the support, the development will be hampered. "
