The Importance of Cyber Security For The Safety of State's Infrastructure
HELSINKI - Digital Infrastructure, one of which is cyber security is now one of the priorities in the life of society. It's because without cyber security, a variety of important infrastructure can be attacked easily, as has just happened in Europe on Tuesday (27/6).
Based on information from Kontan.co.id (28/6), ransomware malware is attacking computers in some countries and infecting servers in Russia's largest oil company, disrupting operations in Ukrainian banks and shutting down computers in shipping companies and multinational advertising companies.
Cyber security experts say the attack appears to exploit the same type of hacking tool used in WannaCry ransomware attacks that infected hundreds of thousands of computers in May. "It's like WannaCry again," said Mikko Hypponen, head of Helsinki-based F-Secure Research as quoted by Reuters.
The first report of the attacked organisation emerged from Russia and Ukraine but its impact quickly spread to the western region to computers in Romania, the Netherlands, Norway and the UK. Merck's pharmaceutical company was listed as the first party in the United States to report an attack.
Merck admitted, their computer network has been affected by the global cyber attacks. Within hours, the attack has spread globally. There have been no reports if this ransomware attacks into Indonesia.
Ransomware is a malicious software that blocks the access of victim data or threats to publish or delete the data until a ransom request is paid. One of the victims of cyber attacks on Tuesday, Ukrainian media company said its computers were blocked and a $ 300 request was made for Bitcoin to return access to files.
"If you see this text, your file is no longer accessible, because it has been encrypted. You may be busy looking for a way to recover your files, but do not waste your time.No one can recover your files without our decryption," wrote the message Quoted from a screenshot posted on Channel 24 Ukraine.
One country that has many cases of cyber attacks in Asia is Indonesia.which is now beginning to realise the importance of a special body to handle cyber security issues. Therefore, Indonesia now has officially established the State Cyber and Code Agency (BSSN) which was inaugurated after President Joko Widodo signed Presidential Regulation No. 53 of 2017 on May 19, 2017.
The importance of Cyber Security for Indonesia is also realised by Tarsus Indonesia, by holding Cyber Security Indonesia 2017 event on 6-7 December 2017. Cyber Security Indonesia 2017 exhibition and conference will bring cyber security solutions providers together with key government and private sector decision makers, buyers, and influencers in order to meet and do business and to advance resilience against cyber attack.
