Vice President Candidate Ma’ruf Amin Encourages “Fintech” in Sharia Finance System

Jakarta – Vice President Candidate #1 Ma’ruf Amin encourages to use financial technology (fintech) in the Sharia system.
Based on Ma’ruf, this matter is in line with the development of Sharia economic system that he planned.
“If I am chosen, I will encourage the development of Sharia economy in Indonesia entirely so it will grow more to support the nation’s economic strength towards welfare,” said Ma’ruf at Bursa Efek Indonesia (BEI) Jakarta.
According to Ma’ruf, fintech is a digitalize financial service that becomes a trend and is done by financial institutions across the globe.
The discussion by the National Sharia Council resulted that fintech could be used in sharia economy.
For example, fintech in sharia could be run without interest, usury, manipulation, or high risk with no certainty.
Moreover, fintech sharia will be keep monitored by Financial Services Authority (OJK) and Bank Indonesia.
“The objective is to simplify the process for people that do not have any office and also have a hard time in funding so that people with small fund could also do the transaction through sharia financial activities.
